Latvian Railways
26th September 2004 to 19th October 2009

Latvian Railways (Latvijas Dzelzceli) are still using virtually the same stock that was interited at independence in 1991. Local serivces in Riga are in the hands of 2 styles of ER2 EMU, long distance passenger services (much reduced these days) are now all operated by DR1 DEMUs. The few remaining international trains are hauled by a small number of TEP70 diesel locos. Freight trains are hauled by class M62, 2M62 and 2TE10 locos. There are also various classes of shunter, of which the largest is ChME3.

Many of the EMUs have now been refursbished, with radically altered front ends.
